While our shared cPanel website hosting includes regular off-site backups powered by JetBackup, you may wish to take your own for true peace of mind. In fact, it is something that is widely recommended.

We’ve even heard the phrase “you can never have too many backups!” which we really do agree with!

Thankfully taking your own backups is super simple and in this guide we’ll explain just how to do that.

Step 1

Of course, you’ll need to login to cPanel. We’ll have emailed you the details of this, or you can find a handy dandy login link in your account on our website.

Step 2

Head to the backup feature within cPanel. You can either find this under the Files section as shown below:

Or alternatively you can find it by using the search feature at the top!

From here you’ll want to select the option right at the top marked “Download a Full Account Backup”.

Next, enter your email address and pick a destination. You can either choose to have it in your home directory (very handy for you to download later) or even specify your own FTP location for the file to automatically be uploaded to when its done. Neat, eh?!

When the backup is done, you’ll get an email letting you know so that you can go and download the file or check that it made it to the fTP destination ok.

If there are any problems, our support team will be happy to help so please feel free to send us a message!

Step 3

Honestly, that’s it! Now you can sit back, relax and enjoy yourself as you know that not only do we store multiple copies of your data ready to be restored if needed, but you have your own copy too just in case.
